@nowwhat? Ja, I think @HereIgo was referring to the private/undercover meetings that will continue in place of regular KH meetings in Russia.

Jehovah's people are not happy people
by Phoebe ini finally stopped attending the meetings about 4 months go.
i won't be going back - ever.. but i've decided the best reply to the watchtower is to be happy and i do try to be happy every day even thought i wasted my entire life on this religion.
i cherish every day, practice mindfulness and do my best to be content with the life i have.. it is only now that i see that most jws i know are deeply unhappy people.

This rings so true. I'm too wrecked from a long-ass day to contribute something meaningful to this discussion, but please know I'm so glad someone put down this dichotomy in writing as a post. JWs are the saddest, most hollow, depressed, medicated, unhinged souls sporting nothing but wan smiles that never reach the eyes.

Russian Ban upheld - JWs lose appeal
by OrphanCrow inthe supreme court of russia has rejected the jehovah's witnesses' appeal.. https://jw-russia.org/news/17071719-195.html.
july 17, 2017 the supreme court of russia has missed the last chance to restore law and justice for the 175,000 russian citizens professing the religion of jehovah's witnesses.
it took less than an hour of the meeting a panel of three supreme court judges, to leave unchanged the decision taken earlier by the judge yuri ivanenko, the liquidation and ban any and all registered organizations of the religion.since there is no more effective domestic remedies, the believers will appeal to the european court of human rights and other international organizations.. *note: as reported by the jworg source, jw-russia.org.

Hey y'all, this is the image @stuckinarut2 was trying to post:
Pretty good synopsis of the convention. I think the "stripping off of the old personality" has proved problematic for all Witnesses who confuse their personality with their brain.

Hey, Gerrit. That "we're going out of business" sign is flashing in neon red above every Kingdom Hall. Hence why thousands seem to be resigning from this defunct corporation annually.

When was the last time a goose came home and beat the sh*t out of its mate? When was the last time a flock of geese protected violent members of its own flock that harmed the baby geese? Scratch that - when was the last time a goose molested its baby geese? Never. You know why?
Geese are decent people.
Take a lesson, JWs.

Rutherford in first place for voiding Russel's will and his utter defiance toward following previous theocratic protocol. Russel in second place for going in his own direction and publishing literature to promote his beliefs that went contrary to what he and Nelson Barbour had agreed on. Freddy Franz for his final talk as WT president, promoting his dissent over the threat of a Governing Body arrangement that would force him to relinquish his presidency.

Jupiter protects the earth... another example of intellectual dishonesty and an argument against design
by cognisonance ini'm taking a university astronomy course, and i must say it's really fun to read about this field.
anyway, i remember the jws used to use jupiter (and probably still do) as an example for how unique and special our solar system is (and thus designed) -- namely, that jupiter protects the earth from astroids, comets, and meteors.
convincing if one doesn't know any better, especially circa 1994 when jupiter stepped in front of a comet for us... but this isn't the full story!

NWT - revised 1984 vs revised 2013 versions
by Tallon inin the latest 2013 revision the footnote of john chapter 8 states; a number of ancient and authoritative manuscripts omit vs 53 (of chapter 7) to chapter 8, vs. 11.. yet the 1984 revision quotes a similar footnote, however the passage of scripture is included in the text, albeit separately at the bottom.
this passage of scripture is about the scribes and the pharisees who brought a woman that was accused of adultery before jesus to test him on the punishment to be meted out.
then came his famous reply; let the one of you that is sinless be the first to throw a stone at her.. i just found it interesting that the wtbts would leave this out in the latest revision.

Ja, apparently too apocryphal for the Silver Sword edition. Which is a shame, really, since that statement about the one being without sin casting the first stone is the essence of Christianity. Not WT's version, though.
